Privacy policy

Scope

This policy explains how Network Scan: Wi-Fi & SSH, published by SEM LLC, handles information. It covers the app on iPhone and iPad and the Network Scan pages on superextramega.com.

Information we collect

SEM LLC does not collect personal data through the app. Network Scan has no app account, analytics, advertising, or third-party tracking SDKs.

SEM LLC does not operate an app backend that receives scan results, saved hosts, credentials, terminal content, or diagnostic history.

Information stored on your device

Scan results and history, saved SSH connection details, custom device names, and app settings remain on your device. If you turn on Wi-Fi names in history, the name of the Wi-Fi network for each new scan is saved with that scan. When you choose to save a password or private key, Network Scan stores it in Keychain.

You can remove saved information from within the app or by deleting the app.

Network activity

Network Scan communicates directly with devices and network services as part of features you initiate:

• Local discovery uses Bonjour browsing and reachability probes.
• Diagnostics can perform ping, DNS, TCP, port, banner, subnet, and speed operations.
• Wake-on-LAN sends a magic packet directly to the local network when you request it.
• SSH connections go only to server addresses you choose.

This activity is necessary to perform the scan, diagnostic, or connection you requested. Results are not sent to SEM LLC.

Permissions

Local Network. iOS requires this permission so Network Scan can discover and probe devices on the networks you join. If you deny it, local discovery and related diagnostics will not work.

Face ID or Touch ID. When enabled, your device uses biometric authentication to unlock saved Keychain credentials. Network Scan does not receive or store biometric data.

Location When In Use. This permission is optional and is requested only if you turn on Wi-Fi names in history in the app's Settings. Apple reveals the current Wi-Fi network name only to apps granted precise location access, so Network Scan uses that authorization solely to read the network name and label new scan-history entries. The app does not request, read, store, or transmit your position. The Wi-Fi name remains with the scan on your device and is not sent to SEM LLC. If you decline, restrict precise location, or turn the feature off, scan history continues to use the subnet label and every other feature remains available.

Purchases and subscriptions

Apple processes the optional yearly Network Scan Pro subscription and lifetime purchase through the App Store. SEM LLC does not receive payment-card data. Apple may provide signed purchase status and transaction information to the app, subject to Apple's privacy practices.

Website visits

When you visit superextramega.com, the hosting infrastructure processes routine request data such as your IP address, browser user-agent, requested page, and timestamp to deliver and secure the website.

The Network Scan pages use privacy-preserving, first-party audience measurement to understand visits and App Store button clicks. Aggregate records can include the requested page, time, a quarterly rotating salted visitor identifier, approximate city, region, country, network provider, and approved campaign labels. Raw IP addresses and full browser user-agent strings do not enter the analytics database. Aggregate analytics records are retained for up to 365 days.

A short-lived first-party sem_visit cookie can connect page journeys and estimate active time within a browsing session. It contains an opaque random value, expires within 12 hours, and starts a new measurement session after 30 minutes of inactivity. Detailed session records are retained for up to 90 days. Browser Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals disable this detailed measurement.

This website measurement is not linked to activity in Network Scan. The pages use no advertising or cross-site tracking. They may store your light or dark theme preference in your browser. See the website privacy policy for fuller details.

Children

Network Scan is not directed to children under 13, and SEM LLC does not knowingly collect personal information from children through the app.

Policy changes

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the effective date above. Material changes will apply from the date the revised policy is published.
